Countering Human Trafficking

The Hostage Survival Training Centre (HSTC)

Countering Human Trafficking Training is a vital educational initiative designed to raise awareness and build capacity in the fight against one of the most urgent human rights challenges of our time. This programme explores the realities of human trafficking in South Africa, defining the crime and unpacking its far-reaching impact—often described as 21st-century slavery. Participants gain insight into how victims are recruited and manipulated, and learn to distinguish between human trafficking, prostitution, and human smuggling. The training equips individuals and communities with the tools to identify victims, respond appropriately, and take meaningful action to disrupt trafficking networks. With a strong emphasis on grassroots mobilization and community-based solutions, this course empowers participants to be proactive defenders of freedom and dignity.
